Some diners find that Findlay’s can get quite crowded during peak hours, particularly on Friday evenings when the restaurant reaches capacity. This sometimes leads to longer wait times, which may not appeal to those looking for a quick meal. A few customers noted limited seating options during busy periods, making it harder to accommodate larger groups without a reservation. While food options are diverse, a couple of patrons expressed a desire for more vegetarian selections on the menu. Finally, though many appreciate the cosy ambiance, some guests prefer a more modern decor, which may not align with the diner’s traditional vibe.
My first visit to Findlays Fish Bar was very positive. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. It is one of the best fish and chip shops in Aberdeenshire.
Amazing fresh food and even better owner and staff. We arrived just a little too late to eat in the restaurant, the owner suggested we take it to go and eat at the beach (which is a 2 minute drive from the restaurant)…what a great idea the food was delicious, he suggested the lemon sole and it did not disappoint - moist and flakey, amazing..we thank you so so much, it was a pleasure to meet you !
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and what can I say? It's a hidden gemstone. The food was amazing. We don’t need to talk about the fish & chips but the homemade curry sauce & the sticky toffee pudding - sooo good. They have their own homemade lemonade in lovely bottles with their own label. But what really made the visit a special experience was the history behind this family owned restaurant. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which came not only from the people working there, but also from all the other guests who were dining in the restaurant at the same time as us. We met lots of new and wonderful people. It was the perfect experience, which made our anniversary even more special. Thank you so much. We will definitely come back again.
Lovely place. Amazing people and atmosphere. I loved every bite and every minute of my dinner here. Fish cannot get fresher than this. Fried to perfection. Come and have a piece for yourself if you are in the area.
This fish and chip shop has been voted the best 3 years in a row! A very cozy dining area, or you can get takeout. The owners are friendly, and the service is excellent . Highly recommend!

I highly recommend the Jumbo Haddock and the lemon sole; both are fried to perfection and boast incredibly fresh flavors. Don’t skip the homemade curry sauce and sticky toffee pudding for a real treat!
